INDIANAPOLIS (August 18, 2006) — In November, Klipsch will introduce a new line of Reference 1000 Series architectural speakers including three in-ceilings and one in-wall. These products offer several improvements over the popular Contractor Series models they replace yet still maintain a value-driven philosophy.

According to Jim Garrett, Klipsch director of product development, the former Klipsch Contractor Series always utilized the most durable and reliable materials available to deliver the highest possible performance at the lowest possible price. These new Reference models will build upon that heritage and deliver an even better value.

Consisting of the R-1800-C in-ceiling, R-1650-C in-ceiling, R-1650-CSM summed-mono in-ceiling, and R-1650-W in-wall, this durable lineup is suitable for a wide variety of applications.

Unlike before, each model in the Reference 1000 Series now features a swing-out dog leg mounting system for easy installation and paintable white aluminum grilles that offer added rust protection in moisture-prone areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and saunas.

Additionally, because their cutout dimensions match those of the Klipsch 2000, 3000 and 5000 architectural lines, the new Reference 1000 Series models will fit into the company’s new IK-800-C, IK-650-C or IK-650-W installation kits. They can also be used in conjunction with Klipsch’s new line of fire-rated enclosures.

The R-1800-C, which replaces the CS-800-R, employs an 8-inch polymer-cone woofer and a large motor structure for high sensitivity. A coaxially mounted 1-inch polymer-dome tweeter distributes smooth, clear highs over a wide area. The tweeter is liquid-cooled for maximum power handling and reliability.

The R-1650-C, which replaces the CS-650-R, utilizes the same exact materials and technology as the R-1800-C but employs a 6.5-inch woofer.

The R-1650-CSM, which replaces the CS-650-RSM, employs a 6.5-inch polymer-cone woofer and a large motor structure for high sensitivity and strong bass output. Dual voice coils sum the low frequencies from a stereo input to mono. Upper frequencies are handled individually for the two channels by a coaxially mounted dual-tweeter array, preserving the stereo effect. The two 1-inch polymer-dome drivers in this model are also liquid-cooled.

The R-1650-W, which replaces the CS-650-W, employs a 6.5-inch polymer-cone woofer and a large motor structure for high sensitivity and strong bass output. A 1-inch liquid-cooled, polymer-dome tweeter distributes smooth, clear highs over a wide area.

The new Reference 1000 Series speakers are packaged individually and will be sold through the residential contracting market. U.S. MSRP pricing is as follows: $125 for each R-1800-C, $110 for each R-1650-C, $150 for each R-1650-CSM and $125 for each R-1650-W. Optional installation kits are sold in pairs and range from $35 to $45 U.S. MSRP. The corresponding optional fire-rated enclosures range from $85 to $100 U.S. MSRP.
