INDIANAPOLIS (September 8, 2011) — Klipsch, a leading global speaker manufacturer, today announces the launch of the company’s re-engineered architectural speakers. The improved line is a modified version of the company’s previously acclaimed series and is comprised of 17 all-new speaker models boasting the latest technological audio advancements.

Now in its second generation, the series presents even higher sound quality due to re-engineered drivers and a new crossover system mirroring the high-performance technology employed in the latest Klipsch Reference II series. Complete with proprietary Tractrix® Horn technology, each speaker offers the precision, clarity and effortless power for which Klipsch is known. The new line also features magnetic, full-coverage grilles, allowing maximum sound performance from an unobtrusive, barely-there product.

“As we prepared to re-invent the series, we knew it was critical to incorporate the many new Klipsch technologies that have helped evolve our speakers, as well as enhance their efficiency and output” said Mark Casavant, vice president of product development for Klipsch. “For consumers and installers opposed to big box speakers occupying precious floor space, we have found the perfect balance. By offering speakers that present a subtle and subdued look yet promise our high-impact sound, we are now able to give them the best of both worlds in terms of both design and audio performance.”

The 17 new models consist of nine in-ceiling speakers (CDT-5800-C II, CDT-5650-C, CDT-3800-C II, CDT-3650-C II, CDT-2800-C II, CDT-2650-C II, R-2650-C II, R-2650-CSM II and R-2800-CSM II) and eight in-wall speakers (R-5800-W II, R-5650-W II, R-5502-W II, R-3800-W II, R-3650-W II, R-2650-W II, R-2502-W II and R-5650-S II). With no visible plastic frame, the high-design, easy-to-attach grilles cover the entire speaker for a look that’s sure to blend into any wall or ceiling. For added invisibility, the full-coverage grills can be painted to match the color of the wall or ceiling without also having to paint the speaker frame.

The 5000 Series models (CDT-5800-C II, CDT-5650-C II, R-5800-W II, R-5650-W II and R-5502-W II) feature lightweight, machine-spun Cerametallic™ woofer cones for even tighter bass, as well as improved, integrated dust caps that allow additional voice coil cooling for added stability. The new 5000 Series speakers also incorporate Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) and titanium compression drivers (tweeters),while the new 3000 Series models (CDT-3800-C II, CDT-3650-C II, R-3800-W II and R-3650-W II) use aluminum LTS compression drivers. The Linear Travel Suspension technology combines true horizontal excursion with a premium voice coil that maximizes both conductivity and heat dissipation while reducing distortion and increasing high-frequency dynamics.

The 17 architectural speakers are priced from $188 to $400 each (U.S. MSRP) and will be available through current Klipsch retailers in fall 2011.
