La Scala 70th Anniversary Edition

(# 1063557)
(loading price...) Each

In celebration of our 70th Anniversary we built only 70 pairs of these limited edition, fully horn-loaded La Scala II speakers. Unlike any loudspeaker ever made, we finished these speakers an exotic Australian Walnut wood veneer that's beautifully displayed through their exposed hardwood folded-horn woofers - an acoustic feat that is both aesthetically and sonically stunning. The compact design of the La Scala makes it a versatile option for placement compared to our Klipschorn series which requires more floor space and open corners of the room.

You're not buying a speaker - you're buying a piece of American audio history with badass sound.

La Scala Folded Horn Design

Folded Horn Design

To create a fully horn-loaded design within a small inclosure, the La Scala is able to achieve this acoustic marvel by facing the 15-inch woofer towards the rear of the speaker and amplifying the sound through a horn wrapping the inside edges of the cabinet.

The sound begins in the center of the woofer chamber, and splits to either side, thus creating an wide dispersion of low frequencies for incredible bass that engulfs the listener.

DESIGNED & ASSEMBLED IN AMERICA: HOPE, ARKANSAS

The La Scala II 70th Anniversary loudspeaker is built to rigid Klipsch standards — the toughest in the industry! Remember great sound? We do, too. The Klipsch La Scala II is still Designed & Assembled in the USA, by proud craftsmen in Hope, Arkansas. Just like Paul W. Klipsch (PWK) intended.

PROFESSIONAL QUALITY SOUND

When the La Scala first launched in 1963, audio pioneer Paul W. Klipsch made it for Arkansas gubernatorial candidate Winthrop Rockefeller to use as a public address speaker. Because some considered it a “portable” and more affordable version of the revolutionary Klipschorn®, the La Scala found success beyond the campaign. The fully horn-loaded, three-way La Scala sounded so good that people wanted to put it in their living rooms.

A LIFETIME INVESTMENT

While each and every component of the La Scala is built to last, Klipsch has always recognized the unique and critical role of a loudspeaker’s cabinet in the sound reproduction process. From the craftsmen in Hope, AR to the engineers in Indianapolis, IN, Klipsch places extraordinary emphasis on cabinet design. The La Scala II enclosure is assembled using only the highest grade adhesives and fasteners. This is a speaker you will hand down for generations.

LIMITED AUSTRALIAN WALNUT

Australian Walnut (also known as Queensland Walnut) is grown in the coastal tablelands of North Queensland, Australia. The species varies in color, but is usually a pale-golden hue highly contrasted with darker streaks of chocolate brown, grey, black or even pink. Australian Walnut grain is moderately close and even, and sometimes wavy, resulting in a wide variety of figure effects.

This wood will only be used on 70th Anniversary Edition speakers.

BOOK-MATCHED WOOD VENEER

Klipsch only uses book-matched wood veneers for the Heritage series. The veneer leaves are kept in order as they are delicately sliced from the timber and precisely arranged to provide a mirror image at the splice joint – like turning the pages of a book. This gives each speaker an aesthetically appealing, completely unique appearance of its wood veneer.
